How to Get to RPI¶

From Albany Airport (Trip will be approx 15 minutes without traffic)

1. Leaving the airport, turn left onto Route 155, follow for 1/10 of a mile.
2. At the traffic light, turn left onto Albany Shaker Road.
3. Get on I-87 North via ramp on the left.
4. Take exit 7 onto Route 7 East.
5. Stay on route 7 for 4.8 miles.

From the South

1. Take I-87, the New York State Thruway, North to Exit 23.
2. At Exit 23, get on I-787 North to Route 7 East.
3. Take exit 9E onto Route 7 East.
4. Stay on route 7 for 1 miles.

From the North

1. Take I-87, the Adirondack Northway, South to Exit 7 East.
2. Get on Route 7 headed Eastbound.
3. Stay on route 7 for 4.8 miles.

From the East

1. From I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike, Berkshire Spur of the New York Thruway), take Exit B1.
2. Continue East (13.5 miles) to the exit for I-787.
3. Take I-787 North to Route 7 East.
4. Take exit 9E onto Route 7 East.
5. Stay on route 7 for 1 miles.

From the West

1. Take I-90, the New York State Thruway, to Exit 24.
2. From Exit 24, continue onto I-90 East. Exit onto I-787 North.
3. Take I-787 North to Route 7 East.
4. Take exit 9E onto Route 7 East.
5. Stay on route 7 for 1 miles.

1. Stay straight on Route 7. As it enters Troy, the speed limit drops to 30 mph, and it becomes known as "Hoosick Street."
2. Pass through 3 traffic lights.
3. At the 4th traffic light, turn right on 15th street. (Hess gas station on the left)
4. Follow 15th Street. You will pass through 3 traffic lights.
5. Drive under the pedestrian bridge.
6. The Visitor's parking lot is located just past the pedestrian bridge on your left.
7. Take your first left after the pedestrian bridge. The building on your left will be the Public Safety & Parking Office. Visitor parking is just beyond this building on the left.
8. You should meet your contact from the Design Lab to receive a parking pass.
9. Put the parking pass (hang-tag) on your vehicle.

Directions from the Visitor's Parking Lot to the Design Lab:

1. Proceed across the footbridge and continue straight ahead (about 500 feet) until you reach the brown brick building, which is the Jonsson Engineering Center.
2. Enter the foyer of the Jonsson Engineering Center and proceed down the main hallway.
3. Turn left down the corridor in the middle of the building (across from the Dean's office). At the end of this corridor is the doorway into the Design Lab (room 3232).

The Design Lab is located in the Jonsson Engineering Center (JEC), in room 3232. Call 518-276-2724 with any questions.

Visitor parking is located between 36 and 72.
JEC is building 18.
Approx 5 minute walk. If you take the obvious direct route, you will enter JEC on the 3rd floor where Design Lab classroom is located.
